I am humbled by you. I am sure you were my big brother in heaven. As you return from your mission, I want to share just a few of my feelings of gratitude and my hopes and dreams for you.
- Thank you so much for your dedicated service. I don't think you will ever know the ripple effect and how far reaching it will be. You have blessed our family so much. You must count as some of the success of your mission the faith that has been fostered in the hearts of those you left behind. You were a missionary to us, too. I hope that you will feel joy in your consecrated and dedicated service, and as you look back on it you will always remember the joy of sharing and feeling the Savior's love. I hope you will feel peaceful in your gifts, knowing that in your mission you were yoked with the Savior and your mission was the two of you together, and that is always enough.
- Thank you for living in gratitude. You are SO POSITIVE and SO OPTIMISTIC and SO HAPPY. You see faith and miracles and blessings in everything. I hope that you will feel joy in "living in thanksgiving daily for the many mercies and blessings which God doth bestow upon you". You are already so good at this. I think gratitude for atoning grace is the exquisite and delicious feast of happiness.
- Thank you for loving the people of Malaysia, praying for them, crying for them, fasting for them, working so hard to help them in any way they would be helped. I hope you will, as you have on your mission, see people one by one. Like in 3 Nephi when the Savior took time to minster not just administer, that you will always see people and have time for quiet conversation and interest.
- Thank you for being so content and happy. You are so sweet and grateful. I hope you will continue to live simply. You have always been so easy to please and so content with simple things, and I think your mission has just increased this joy of simple living, and I hope in our crazy materialized complicated world you can hang on to the simple joys of living, the simple, wood carved holy grail with no ornamentation.
- Thank you for appreciating the simple joys of life. I hope you will continue to appreciate the simple joys. You enjoy life so much and notice so many little things that make you smile. I have learned so much from you.
- Thank you for loving the word of God so much! I hope these two years of having time to feast on the word of God has wet your lifelong appetite, as President Hinckley said to have a "lifelong love affair with the word of God", and the precious and simple truths will always be scrumptious, precious and delicious.
- Thank you for loving to learn and making plans to further your education. I hope you will find a career that interests, excites, and challenges you, and that you will look forward to work, maybe not every day, but often. I hope you will find ways to both make money and make the world a better place so you feel fulfilled and happy.
- I hope you have a blue Herbie, a garden of tomatoes, an audiobook you're listening to, friends, fun, games, hikes, sunrises and sunsets, dancing and so much joy.
- Thank you for your worn out shoes. I love you so much. I hope you will take time to take care of yourself and shine and polish and care for your faith like an incredible jewel. I hope sometimes in the chaos of life you will stay in bed or on your knees or in the woods or at the temple until you feel the joy of the Lord, until you feel the music of the song of redeeming love swell in your heart. I hope if it all gets too much to stand sometimes, you will kneel, and stay there until you can feel again what it is all about, a manger, a garden a cross, an empty tomb and a love that is so perfect and so unspeakably perfect it fills the world and every human heart. I hope you can always hear that song, and the discord of trial or the volume of life will never diminish it.
- Thank you for living the law of chastity and being pure and clean. I love you you wonderful boy. I hope you will find the absolute love of your life, someone who loves someone more than you. I hope she will love the Savior more than she loves you, I hope you both will. I hope the gospel will be her walk, talk, breath, Ebenezer, her banner, her heart and everything she wants, and together you will ask what the Lord wants and then "waste and wear out your lives" in fulfilling it together, and I want you to be so so happy together. I hope someday you will kneel across the altars of the temple and think you have found the greatest happiness our existence has to offer as she becomes yours forever, but you will be wrong, because someday I hope you will have a baby of your own. You will be filled with the most exquisite joy you have ever known to that point, and you will think you couldn't be more happy, but day after year you will love that child and your sweet wife more and more and more and more and more, and then you will send your baby on a mission. You will feel that your heart will break not being with your baby every day. But you will receive incredible letters and you will love a people halfway across the world so much, even though you've never met one of them. Your parent heart will be filled with love as you send your own perfect son to them so they can feel the joy you have. THEN ONE DAY HE WILL COME HOME TO YOU, AND YOUR JOY WILL BE GREATER THAN IT HAS EVER BEEN BEFORE AS YOUR VALIANT MISSIONARY COMES OFF THE PLANE AND INTO YOUR ARMS. I hope someday, you will feel the joy from your child that you my precious son has given me.
How can I thank you? How can I possibly find the words. I have a million more hopes and dreams for you, but I'm just searching for the words to somehow express my gratitude for you. How can I thank you? How can I say thank you for being so valiant and dedicated? How can I thank you for the example you have set for your brothers and sister? How can I thank you for your scrumptious letters, so full of faith, joy, culture, testimony, insight, humility? Your heart has been an open book and you have shared it, thank you so much for that. Thank you for your faith, your testimony, your work, your pictures, your OBEDIENCE, your light, your dedication, EVERYTHING! Thank you for loving your family, and for how through those difficult years before you left you took care of your family in countless ways. You taught, parented, served, worked for money, testified, taught, took care of me. You are one of the best and dearest and most precious friends I have ever had in my life, and one of my favorite people in time or eternity.
I don't have the words to thank you enough for everything. I LOVE YOU COY JEFFREY CHRISTENSEN!
WELCOME HOME. Well done, Thou SO GOOD and SO FAITHFUL servant. You have brought me more coy joy than my words and heart can ever express.
I WANT TO SLEEP OVER AT THE AIRPORT I'M SO EXCITED!
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again IN JUST A FEW HOURS....
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again IN JUST A FEW HOURS....
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
Love, your MOM.!
