Sweet Joseph had surgery at Primary Children's Hospital yesterday. He had tubes in his ears and his adnoids removed. He failed four consecutive hearing tests this year, and we discovered that he was not hearing more tones within the normal range than he was hearing.
He was very brave. He walked down the hall himself with the anesthesiologist and just said goodbye to us. Today he is enjoying every possible benefit he can derive from his ordeal. It is not even lunchtime and he has sent his brothers for at least 3 fudgesicles, and he's on his third movie. We are so grateful the solution did not include hearing aids or long term hearing problems. This should fix him up good as new. The adnoid removal should now allow his ears to drain properly even after the tubes come out, avoiding the fluid build up that was preventing full hearing before. He got to have a slurpee in the hospital, and color and keep Joseph Jr. He did very very well. We'll keep all updated on the popsicle count.
