LLIONS AND MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of other precious and wonderful memories. How can I thank you ever enough for being mine, You have given me 20 years of absolute pure exquisite joy every second. Those years homeschooling you hold some of the purest most intense joy I have ever known. You light up my life.
20 things I love about you:
- Your incredible faith. Faith is the principle of action in all intelligent beings. You are so active, so intelligent, so forward moving and thinking.
- Your optimism. You can always see the good, count the blessings, and celebrate every second, even when things are rough.
- Your courage. China by yourself? Crazy kid! You've always been willing to try new things.
- Your love of everyone. No one is beneath you or out of the scope of your caring and compassionate heart.
- You are chaste. You have kept yourself clean and worthy, a true priesthood man in a wicked world.
- Your incredible personality. You draw people to you because you are sucking the marrow out of the bones of life and loving every second possible.
- Your love of music. You really have a gift. You don't just play music, you live it and love it. I miss you sitting on the sunflower bench singing radiaoctive and playing the guitar.
- The way you treat your siblings, and actually everyone. Your siblings can be hanging on you, laying on you, asking for your help with their homework until 1 a.m. and you just love them through it all.
- Your ability and choice to be a peacemaker. You can diffuse any tense situation just with your presence and your great sense of humor, and sense of what really matters. Usually whatever is causing the conflict is not of eternal consequence, and you can see that and help the rest of us see it, too.
- Your work ethic. I'll never forget watching you calculus til 1 a.m., work so hard at track and everything.
- Your appetitie for experiences, ghost towns, China, every club at Riverton, you signed up.
- Your stepping in for Dad. In a big way you were the big man on campus at home for two years. We needed you, and you helped.
- Your love of the gospel and everything good. You never tampered with the nasty stuff of life, you loved and enjoyed what was good.
- Your love of reading. Omar, at least four times.
- Your self discipline. Harder right instead of the easier wrong. Period.
- Your gratitude for life. You truly live with a grateful and happy heart. It is so fun to be around you.
- Your great hair.and your D.I.style. We couldn't afford the fancey duds, so instead of whinign, you created a new style and took it to the top.
- Your love of your mother. :).
- Your ability to do everything, but still keep the important things at the center of your life and heart.
- Your testimony. it radiates in everything you do and it shineslike the sun drawing others to it's light and warmth.
You are so so so so precious to us. I hope you have a wonderful birthday. Your letter last week was so precious. We are so excited about the harvest of souls.
We are just living in kind of ridiculously blessed splendor over here. I've spent sacred hours bottling pears and peaches with Grandma Jan. Autumn is rich and luscious, the sky a bright brilliant blue and flowers and gardens everywhere. I just want to find a way to show the Lord how much I love Him, and how grateful I am for the blessings He has given me.
Fairview Monday, bottling peaches and pears, Homecoming, today we played at the Memory Care rest home, Seth was precious, so was everyone.
I had a spiritual experience I want to share with you. It is so wonderful. It will sound like a nothing at all, but it was a truth I had heard my whole life that I was washed in. I asked Heavenly Father what He wants from me. (I'm searching a lot right now for the next step). He said in feelings: Jana, I want you to be happy. I gave you this beautiful world, and sent my only begotten Son so you could be happy. You are saved, redeemed, compensated for, mediated for, pled for, loved infinitely. I don't want you to wallow in worry and fear, I want you to feel faith and love and joy. I am RIGHT HERE. When you need to know, you will know. I want you to be happy. I felt like He jsut wantsz me to live in faith that everything will work out, and rejoice.
Earlier in the week I had the strongest impression that life, at it's very very core, is a celebration. It is a celebration of redemption, of eternal families,of love and butterflies and second chances. Every breath, every bug, every sunrise, every friend, every experience, even the hard ones are a gift, and our greatest responsibility is to SATURATE ourselves in it and celebrate every single second of it, to the marrow of the bones.I felt like Heavenly Father was saying "I won't let you go the wrong way without letting you know. Go forward in faith and joy and I am right here with you."
YOU alre ady know this. You do it every day.
That sounds so cliche, but it struck me to the core with a warmth and love and joy that was so strong and so exquisite.
How big of an English dictionary? Pocket size? Ginormous 12 pounder?
