We've found some fun ways to entertain ourselves in this precious, too short 5 little tiny weeks of summer. Mook has taught himself a few chords on the guitar and learned the song "I'm my own Grandpa" which usually causes Coy to turn up the Cosby tape or the summer playlist on the Zune. Spen gets one song down on the piano then it plays faster and faster and faster until our house lifts a few feet off the ground, and Joseph and his 12 friends have one volume....MAX. He's been practicing his recorder. Annie's emotional wealth is usually always on display with peals of laughter or buckets of high-pitched disapproval. The really entertaining thing is that we usually have about 2-5 extra boys in the house, and all of these exciting little things are going on at the same time. At least life is not without it's soundtrack!
Annie told me tonight that she told me yesterday that I am not the smartest person in the world. I'm a little bit smart. I asked her how smart I am and she said "Almost as smart as me!" She also said "I'm the smartest person in the family!" Then she said, "How do you know things, like what day it is and stuff?"
Yesterday we made our whole basement into one huge padded room and had noodle wars.
Joseph said "You just don't know how crazy I am. Swimming is just not crazy enough! The last time I was happy was on
the Alpine Slide!" (flying down a mountain at 500 miles an hour.
We have 18 far side books from the library. The summer went too fast, the kids are growing too fast. Jeff and I just got out of our double knee Sears pants! This summer Coy has been going to the temple with his buds on Wednesday mornings, and all the Mom's are taking turns cooking breakfast and letting them hang out for a while. They leave at 6 a.m. Shout out for one cool Coy! .
